At Van Engen Chiropractic, we believe that it’s important to treat root causes of problems and not just the symptoms. We know that these roots in many cases are due to problems with the nervous system as a result of spinal misalignments. By using the Gonstead Method to treat this misalignment, we are able to offer our patients relief in a non-invasive manner without utilizing drugs or surgery.
Most patients understand that the nerves from our spinal column go to our arms, hands, legs and feet. Its clear to us when they experience pain, numbness and dysfunction. However, what many people don’t realize is that our nerves also control every organ of the body.

Pressure on the spinal cord is called subluxation. When there is pressure on different areas of the spinal cord, it will affect the function of an organ or multiple organs in the body. When someone is experiencing stomach issues like gastritis or heart burn, it can be from a subluxated T6 located in the mid back. Or someone experiencing constipation caused by a subluxated T12-L1 located on the low back.

Organic problems can be helped by correcting the pressure on a nerve coming from our spine by properly adjusting the correct vertebrae. This removes the nerve interference, allowing the organ to function normally.
