Functional Nutrition Counseling
We are all created by God to be unique. Our genetics, the environment we live in, the way we experience life, the choices we've made or were made for us, they all impact our story and our health! So why are programs and solutions in our health care system a one-size fits all approach?
A Functional Nutrition Counselor sees things differently.
What is Functional
Nutrition Counseling?
This therapeutic approach works in restoring optimal function of the body and its organs by focusing on nutrition and lifestyle changes and viewing food as medicine. This happens by working with a counselor who is trained in operating through systems and frameworks rather than formulas to move toward the root causes of your signs, symptoms and diagnosis.
You are a unique individual who is more than just your health, so why would that be the only thing that defines the care that you receive? So often the solution to our health is decided before we enter the office, it's a formula. A Functional Nutrition Counselor takes every aspect of your uniqueness and works with you to "clear the muddy waters" of your signs, symptoms and diagnosis to find the health you have been looking for!

Who is Functional
Nutrition Counseling for?
Functional nutrition counseling is designed for everyone, regardless of your health status! Whether you're dealing with autoimmune diseases, chronic illnesses, metabolic disorders, hormonal imbalances, or anything other health challenges, a functional nutrition counselor can provide the support you need. A counselor helps to bridge the gaps in health care you so often experience and work to educate and empower you to take your health into your own hands!

Bailey Potter
Functional Nutrition Counselor -
In training with the Functional Nutrition Alliance
Bailey holds an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and has dedicated the past decade to raising her family while also navigating her husband’s chronic illness. This journey led them down a holistic approach to health, with nutrition playing a pivotal role in the healing process. After joining Van Engen Health Center in 2023, Bailey discovered gaps in her education around nutrition and began her training with the Functional Nutrition Alliance to become a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor (CFNC). This program has been an amazing opportunity and a huge answer to prayer. She has always viewed food as healing and medicinal, but what has amazed her even more in this process is how intentional God is in his design for food and nutrients. His timing in it all has held firm and been very humbling. She is thrilled to embark on this new career path, and eager to meet clients to help them find the answers they seek in their health journey.
